The South Dakota Family Policy Council has compiled a voter guide which covers a broad range of questions which can help you vote your values when picking a candidate to represent South Dakota in the U.S. Senate today.
Candidates are Democrat incumbent Tim Johnson and Republican Joel Dykstra.
The questions asked of candidates are as follows:
Support HR 8 (2006), which permanently repealed the estate tax?
Support S Amdt 4347 to S Con Res 70 (2008), which placed a moratorium on earmarks or 'pork barrel' projects?
Support S 403 (2006), which prohibited the transportation of a minor girl across state lines to obtain an abortion without the consent of a parent, guardian, or judge?
Support S Amdt 3330 to HR 3043 (2007), which prohibited the provision of funds to grantees who perform abortions?
Support S 3 (2003), which prohibited the procedure commonly known as partial-birth abortion?
Support S Amdt 3035 to HR 1585 (2007), which funded the prosecution of hate crimes?
Support S J Res 1 (2006), the homosexual marriage ban?
Support S AMDT 2358 to S 1932 (2005), which prohibited drilling for oil in the
Alaska National Wildlife Refuge?
Support S 3711 (2006), which allowed drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico? Support S 3036 (2008), the Lieberman-Warner Climate Bill?
