Flight of Endeavor

I sometimes think that NASA is just another bloated federal bureaucracy run by politicians more interested in budgets than blastoffs, but this series of photos sent to me by a doctor friend who was once in charge of the astronaut recovery team still makes me swell with pride and awe. The Space Shuttle Endeavour blasted off into the night sky early Tuesday morning with a retired U.S. Navy captain as its commander and three other servicemembers among the seven man crew.
