Chambliss Credits Palin for Help in Senate Win

Yet another example of why the "mainstream" media has such visceral hatred for Alaska Governor Sarah Palin: she gets conservatives excited!

As I stated Tuesday night, Governor Palin helped put Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss over the top in the Georgia runoff--the runoff that thwarted Democrat hopes of a filibuster-proof majority in the U.S. Senate.

While the media and other liberals continue to pooh-pooh, malign and paint her as dumb as a moose, Palin continues to show that she is the beating heart of an otherwise disappointed conservative community.

And apparently Senator Chambliss thinks she's a big plus for the Republican Party, too!

"We packed the houses everywhere we want. And it really did allow us to peak and get our base fired up."

Chambliss, who defeated Democrat Jim Martin 57 percent to 43 percent, said that he thought that popularity of the former GOP vice presidential nominee would endure.

"I mean, I can't overstate the impact she had down here," he said. "All these folks did a great job coming in. They all allow you did us to add momentum to where we were in the campaign. But when she walks in a room, folks just explode.

Chambliss called her "a dynamic lady" and said that she had a "great future" in the party.

Indeed she does!

In Voting our Pocketbooks, What Have We Done?

I believe that America will not survive the political and social trials that are to come if we are not engaged in the fight to protect our Christian beliefs. The Ten Commandments, written by the hand of God, are our moral compass. Liberalism has slowly worked its way into mainstream Christian denominations. If it were not so we would have been a wiser people and elected a president who shares the same principles found in the teachings of the Great I Am.

Many evangelicals and Catholics voted in to the office of the presidency America's most liberal senator on social issues that concern our children's sexual identity, marriage and the sanctity of human life. All of these extremely important topics appear to be above Barack Hussein Obama's pay grade. What were these Christians thinking?

I heard of a man who made a pact with The Almighty. The man promised God that he was not going to do His will, even though it meant finding his own eternal destiny in a place prepared for the devil. This story reminded me of the biblical parable found in Matthew 21.

Jesus, in a parable, said: "What do you think? A man had two sons; he went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work in the vineyard today.' He answered, 'I will not'; but later during the same day the man changed his mind. The father went to the second son and asked the same; and he answered, 'I go, sir'; but he did not go" (Matthew 21:28-30).

May I ask you: How do you respond to God's call in your life? Have you ever felt the Lord's call for a very special kind of ministry? Maybe God was asking you to surrender your life to Him through the power of His Holy Spirit.

Because of fallen human nature of all mankind since the beginning, many people do not respond to God. They rather resist and are unwilling to concede the need of a loving Savior who lived and died and rose again so they could have eternal life in the world to come. Many are called, but refuse to answer.

Amos 5:1-2: The Lord judges a nation just as He does individual people. America, how is your walk with the Savior doing? Are you yielding to His gentle voice? Many of God's anointed answered the call once in their lives, but then found themselves backsliding and off course.

The drive-by media of the New Testament gave the priests and Pharisees some pretty bad press. Although there were many uncomfortable conflicts between them and Jesus, don't ever assume that they were all in open rebellion against Christ. In fact, the book of Acts reveals that many who verbally fought against Jesus eventually became Christians.

You'll find their story in the parable. They are represented by the second son. The one son who agreed to go to work in his father's vineyard represents many Christians who had very good intentions and started out to serve the Lord faithfully, but allowed themselves to become sidetracked along the way. For them there had come a time for epiphany. Let's just say that they experienced a watershed in their lives when they had chosen the wrong path.

In the parable, Jesus points to a specific time and place where they had failed to grow and continue their walk with God. What He said to them is still important to Christians living today. "For this is the love of God that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome." (1 John: 5-3)

We all need to take into consideration the progress of our own walk with the Savior and Creator of the universe. My sisters and brothers, let us repent and move forward. We are not saved by the Ten Commandments but "by grace, least any man should boast." However, the Lord gave His commandments in love to guide our lives upright before Him and others. We are the Lord's witnesses.

We're to be seen as a light as Christ was unto this world, so others will be drawn to Him. May we do so with humility toward God and a willingness to respond to Him by doing His will through love.

If we lose our salt and our image appears to be a mirror of the worldliness that we proclaim to reject, we will not be able to win one soul for Christ. Our country needs a righteous religiosity, lead by those who have regenerated hearts and who are on fire for their Lord and Savior. We must not be viewed as mere hypocrites who talk the talk but do not walk the walk.

The headlines announce that the whole world is waiting for President Obama. Sorry Jesus Christ, you'll have to postpone your long awaited Second Coming, because Obama, with his huge government programs, has everything covered. Soon we will be living in the land of plenty and honey.

We were called out to be fishers of men and to conduct ourselves befitting the stature of sons and daughters to the most Holy God. America's future depends on a holy people who are willing to let their light shine and not hide their Christianity under a bushel. Ill-informed people of faith went into the voting booths and decided to vote their pocketbooks and bring socialism to America's doorstep. Unless Christ cuts the time in half, Christians will be wandering through the desert of a socialistic progressive malaise for a long, long time.

Rep. Paul Ryan Calls for Fire Hose on Republican Party

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) in the Wall Street Journal today calls for a total shakeup of of the Republican Party.

He's right on, and the party should listen to him.

Ryan was considered for House Republican leadership, but declined due to the family considerations of his wife and three young children. As important as House leadership is, it's hard to fault Ryan for that dedication to his family; he has no more important job than his eternal investment in his children.

But congressional Republicans desperately need fresh leadership, a return to core principles and a clearly articulated vision for America.

The paragraph which best summarizes Ryan's advice is this:

We cannot simply put up roadblocks to the emboldened Democratic majority. We need to offer an alternative future. Absent reform, our federal government will double in size within a generation. We must change course from this path of stagnation, and we must have leaders willing to provide a path that keeps alive the American ideal and keeps our government limited.

As I pointed out at Red County today, Republicans squandered the historic opportunity given to them in the mid-1990s and have allowed themselves to become part of the problem.

While Democrat voters will not hold the Democrat Party accountable for being part of the problem (they still have blind faith the problem will somehow someday become "the salvation"), conservatives and most Republicans will not tolerate this betrayal of the party's core values.

Republican congressional leadership needs to wake up to this reality, take drastic action and get back to their roots.

Or they can sit back and get comfortable being in the minority for years to come...

Allegations of Vote Fraud in South Dakota Pro-Abortion Campaign

We knew a lot of money and people were coming into South Dakota to try and defeat our pro-life Initiated Measure 11. But today brought news of some new and shady efforts to influence South Dakota elections.

KSFY is reporting that the South Dakota Campaign for UnHealthy families is facing allegations of voter fraud.

UnHealthy Families (official name: "Healthy Families," but my ability to utter hypocritical statements only goes so far) is the pro-abortion group fighting South Dakota's pro-life Initiated Measure 11.

Initiated Measure 11 would prohibit all abortions in South Dakota except those for rape, incest, to protect the health of the mother, or to protect the life of the mother.

VoteYesForLife.com, the group supporting Initiated Measure 11, says within the last couple of days they learned that a concerned citizen who supports Measure 11 tells them that UnHealthy Families is encouraging out-of-state visitors who are visiting South Dakota to register and vote in our election.

At this point, the UnHealthy Families campaign is denying it.

KSFY says Sara Rabern with the Attorney General's Office isn't aware of any information regarding this. However, Attorney General Larry Long has "no comment." Perhaps he is aware of something Ms. Rabern hasn't yet learned of.

According to SDCL 12-3-1, it is illegal for someone to vote in a South Dakota election when they have no intent to remain in the state. The voter registration form specifically makes this stipulation to which the registrant must agree.

South Dakota law, SDCL 12-1-4, defines "residence" as

the place in which a person has fixed his or her habitation and to which the person, whenever absent, intends to return

According to a VoteYesForLife.com press release,

A transcript of the audio file clearly indicates evidence of voter fraud during a conversation between "Eduardo" and a man named Josh at the Campaign for Healthy Families headquarters in Sioux Falls earlier this week.

"Eduardo" and Josh discuss how it is that "South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families" Spokesman Chris Cassidy is able to vote in South Dakota since he is also currently a resident of California, only here for the election, and plans to go home when the election is over. Josh, an employee of the "Campaign for Healthy Families," encouraged "Eduardo" that he could do the same. This admission is clearly a violation of point #3 (I actually live at and have no present intention of leaving the above address;) of the declaration that citizens sign when they register to vote in South Dakota .

There has already been more than enough lying and deception from pro-abortion forces in this campaign already. We don't need more...but it looks like we may have gotten it anyway.

Why can't they just debate the issue on the merits of their pro-abortion argument and let the voters decide? Could it be because they realize their argument, if it was clearly known, has no merits...and that they are too desperate to maintain access to abortion on demand, abortion as birth control?

ACORN Voter Registrations Under Investigation in a Dozen States

Let's not make a mockery of democracy, guys. Yet that is what some are intent on doing.

This kind of corruption and fraud is probably a win-win for liberals.

If they get dead folks, dogs and goats, seven-year-olds, and the Dallas Cowboys football team are registered by ACORN and get away with it, liberals get plenty of free votes.

If they get caught (as they have), allegations of racism, etc. usually follow, which often intimidates people from being as vigilant as they should in ensuring the election process is carried out correctly--still providing wiggle room for liberal election shenanigans.

If they get caught (as they have), it casts doubts on the integrity of the election process and opens the door to the kind of legal wrangling we saw in 2000, and saw a bit of in 2005--which gives liberals wiggle room to squeak out a legal victory, regardless of what the real voters might have decided.

Of course, law and order, the good of the country, the people's faith in their government are all expendable commodities for liberals anyway; all are subordinate to the quest for the power to transform America into a socialist nightmare.

And the assaults on all of these breed more cynicism on the part of the people...which means more people tune out of current events...which means a freer hand to ignore the Constitution and turn this nation into something it was never intended to be.

But as daunting as the task is, some of us remain committed to law and order, and to our republican form of government. And we won't stand idly by while democracy is stolen by the corrupt.

Stoplight: Do You Know Who You Are?

In an age of identity theft and voter-registration fraud, Stuart Shepard wonders in his Stoplight video commentary why anyone would argue against a little ID check.

Here, here! The only folks I can think of who would oppose solid ID check and voter registration procedures would be, well, those who want to perpetrate a little fraud (or a LOT of fraud if you're ACORN).

Having dead folks, animals and stuck keyboards voting is hardly in the interest of democracy.

Desperation Leads Obama Campaign To Droll Analogy

Donna Brazille made it public, but the analogy began in a post on a far-Left website. We have all heard it several times and even Tom Brokaw alluded to it when confronting Rudy Giuliani.

The incredible arrogance of equating B. Hussein Obama to Jesus Christ aside, what can we say about the message? Was Jesus a “community organizer?” The proposition betrays a cynical misunderstanding of Jesus’ life on earth. He was a ‘fisher of men,” asking all to follow Him and turn away from the base and profane world dominated by Jewish leaders, Romans and lovers of self. He did not, however, set Himself explicitly against governmental authorities. How else could Pilate have said “I am innocent of this man’s blood. It is your [the Jews] responsibility?”

Far from being a community organizer, Jesus called His followers out of the community of sinners, and it was the community that demanded His crucifixion. He did not enjoin His followers to organize or act in any political sense, instructing, in fact, that they “give unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s.” What Jesus of Nazareth began was a movement that would transform the world, but not through political action or demonstrations, or get-out-the-vote drives, civil disobedience, or fund drives for PUSH or the Rainbow Coalition.” Jesus called upon His followers to repent, reject Satan, go and sin no more, love one another and to believe upon Him and the Resurrection and the promise of Salvation.

Pontius Pilate was the Prefect of Judea, a position roughly translated as a governor. Far from being an elected executive of the people’s business and welfare, Pilate was appointed by Tiberius to act on Caesar’s behalf in Palestine, which was under the martial law of Rome. His goal was, by all accounts, to impose the severest form of governmental oppression, just short of causing a general insurrection, which is what he feared of the Jews if he didn’t hand over Jesus to be crucified.

So please, enough of this silliness about Jesus being a community organizer and Pilate being a governor. This is nothing more than a diversionary tactic of the Left hoping to cloud the obvious differences between the Obama/Biden ticket and McCain and Palin, and aimed at the ignorant, misinformed or hopelessly cynical.

Obama on Iraq: Keep the Change

Amir Taheri at the New York Post has this piece that sheds some light on what Obama is willing to do to secure his election in November. With all the good news of American success in Iraq, Obama has lost the source of his primary appeal to the far Left, from which comes much of his campaign’s financial support. Obama correctly assesses that a draw-down of forces in Iraq would bode badly for his campaign and that delaying action (never mind what’s best for the troops and for the Iraqis) keeps the issue alive for him to demagogue.

WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

Though Obama claims the US presence is "illegal," he suddenly remembered that Americans troops were in Iraq within the legal framework of a UN mandate. His advice was that, rather than reach an accord with the "weakened Bush administration," Iraq should seek an extension of the UN mandate.

While in Iraq, Obama also tried to persuade the US commanders, including Gen. David Petraeus, to suggest a "realistic withdrawal date." They declined.

Obama has made many contradictory statements with regard to Iraq. His latest position is that US combat troops should be out by 2010. Yet his effort to delay an agreement would make that withdrawal deadline impossible to meet.

Pastors and Politicians Who Oppose Religious Freedom

The Washington Post is reporting on an Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) initiative to overturn the unconstitutional 1954 tax code which prohibits tax exempt organizations from endorsing political candidates.

Some people believe this prohibition is rooted in the Constitution, but is not.

From the ADF white paper on Pulpit Freedom Sunday:

The 1954 amendment, offered by then-Senator Lyndon Johnson, stated that non-profit tax-exempt entities could not “participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.” No official reason was given for the amendment, but scholars believe that Johnson offered the amendment to restrict the speech of a private foundation that supported a political opponent. Since the amendment passed, the IRS has steadfastly maintained that any speech by churches about candidates for office, including sermons from the pulpit, can result in loss of tax exemption.

The amendment dramatically impacted churches’ exercise of First Amendment rights. Historically, churches have frequently and fervently spoken for and against candidates for office. Such sermons date from the founding of America, including sermons against Thomas Jefferson for being a deist; sermons opposing William Howard Taft as a Unitarian; and sermons opposing Al Smith in the 1928 presidential election. Churches have also been at the forefront of most of the significant societal and governmental changes in our history including ending segregation and child labor and advancing civil rights.

The Pulpit Freedom Sunday event will take place later this month on September 28. I know of at least one pastor here in South Dakota who will be participating with other pastors around the country.

In a column at TownHall.com, Erik Stanley, senior legal counsel and head of the Alliance Defense Fund’s Pulpit Initiative, explains some of the reasons why nonprofit organizations are tax exempt:

The state cannot demand the surrender of constitutional rights for a church to remain tax exempt.

Nonprofit organizations are exempted because they are not profit-makers. If citizens are already taxed on their individual incomes, taxing their participation in a voluntary organization from which they derive no monetary gain amounts to double taxation.

Churches are all the more tax exempt. Church tax exemption is not a gift, nor is it a “subsidy,” as some disingenuously contend. As the U.S. Supreme Court has noted, the power to tax involves the power to destroy, and churches have always been exempt from taxation under the principle that there is no surer way to destroy religion than to begin taxing it.

And how ironic is it that those who publicly wave the “separation of church and state” banner are the loudest voices demanding that the federal government entangle itself in the most intimate church business, namely the content of pastors’ sermons?

If free speech (and freedom of religion) come only at the cost of a government-imposed penalty, then they are not free.

The Post article also reports on some puny pastors who now want to fight this effort to restore religious freedom to America's pulpits:

Yet an opposing collection of Christian and Jewish clergy will petition the IRS today to stop the protest before it starts, calling the ADF's "Pulpit Initiative" an assault on the rule of law and the separation of church and state.

Backed by three former top IRS officials, the group also wants the IRS to determine whether the nonprofit ADF is risking its own tax-exempt status by organizing an "inappropriate, unethical and illegal" series of political endorsements.

"As religious leaders, we have grave concerns about the ethical implications of soliciting and organizing churches to violate core principles of our society," the clergy wrote in an advance copy of their claim obtained by The Washington Post.

No, the 1954 politically-motivated Johnson law is the assault on the rule of law (the Constitutional prohibition against the infringement of religious expression) and the separation of church and state.

And while these religious leaders appear fearful of "violating" the "core principles of our society" which have been in place for the last 54 of the 232-year history of the United States, they seem to have no fear of the God they claim to serve.

Morality and God's truth supersede any so-called "core principles" of moral cowardice, real or perceived.

This action by the ADF and participating pastors is long overdue. For too long the people of the United States have allowed left-and-right unconstitutional infringements of our constitutional rights.

If we wish to remain a free people, we must be about the business of returning to a constitutional government.

When Voting for a Candidate, How Important is the Issue of Abortion

This is the eighth in a series of responses to pro-abortion politicians. In this spot, Fr. Frank answers the argument that "there are many other issues than abortion." The Horror of the 2000 Florida Recount

This is so like liberals: if you can't get reality to conform to your vision of how things ought to be, make a movie about it and retreat into fantasy land.

You may have heard about HBO's exercise in revision called "Recount" about the 2000 Florida hanging, dimpled and belching chads (or whatever) and how the evil Republicans "stole the election" from Al Gore.

This farce is apparently spawning a wave of suffering across the fruited plain, in the form of post-traumatic-stress-disorder, shell-chock and "repressed memories" of police intimidation and thuggery exploding back into the minds of fragile liberals.

As Marlon Brando in "Apocalypse Now" said, "The horror!"

NewsBusters relates some of these tales from poster called "Lorien" at Democratic Uncerground.

So why haven't we heard of these and other such incidents related by Lorien? An answer is provided:

I was shocked, however, that NONE of these local stories made it into the Orlando Sentinel or any other Florida papers or news outlets. Thousands of affidavits had been signed, but the media didn't give a crap.

...My next door neighbor is the news director for our local PBS station, and even she won't do a story about it because her boss-a repug-won't allow those kinds of stories. Neither she nor her top reporters even knew that these things had happened!

Go pull my other leg, now. Like the "mainstream" media wouldn't have rode that pony till it dropped? Like taxpayer-funded Democrat propaganda arm PBS wouldn't have beat that horse into a pulp?

Maybe even this PBS manager had enough sense to realize when the horse is dead and can never be resurrected.

Without resorting to cheating (more cheating than was already going on), there was no way Gore was ever going to win that recount. The votes he needed JUST. WEREN'T. THERE.

Have you ever noticed how spoiled children just can't let a "No" rest? They always have to keep bringing things up? Just can't live with cold, hard reality?

Notice any parallels with the 2000 Florida vote?

Tell Me Lies, Tell Me Sweet Little Lies

This one could be interesting to enforce.

From the Rapid City Journal:

It would be illegal to lie or print lies about issues placed on the South Dakota ballot as proposed laws, repeal of existing laws or changes in the state constitution, under a bill that South Dakota lawmakers will deal with this year.

HB1145 would make such falsehoods misdemeanors that could be punished by up to 30 days in jail and $500 fines.

I remember some things being said during the 2006 campaign about rights being lost if certain initiatives passed. No rights had been lost in other states, there was no indication that they would, nor any indication that rights would be lost here. But the parties making those statements could have theoretically been prosecuted under this statute.

I agree with the intent of HB 1145; we should have honest from both sides of an issue, with debate based on the merits of the measure or candidate, without dishonest fear mongering.

The thing is, when the rubber meets the road, questions of what can happen and what will happen can quickly become matters of highly subjective conjecture.

Letter to the Editor Makes Important Point

I happened upon a "Letter to the Editor" by David Lyon (Jan. 4, 2008) in the Courant.com regarding Duncan Hunter and wanted to share an important point made...

"In our republic, the role of the media is to provide information to the citizens, so they can select their leaders and help to decide the direction of our country. The media should not be choosing our leaders for us. The voters should be informed about all the candidates; then they can decide who will win. Fred Thompson Announces Endorsement of Citizens for Life

Leading New Hampshire Pro-Life Organization Joins Growing List of Supporters

MC LEAN, Va., Jan. 5 /Christian Newswire/ -- Today Fred Thompson announced the endorsement of Citizens for Life, the New Hampshire affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee.

"Fred Thompson had a 100% pro-life voting record as a member of the United States Senate. Fred Thompson is pro-life. He believes in the sanctity of human life and that every life is worthy of respect. He had a 100% pro-life voting record in the Senate and believes Roe v. Wade was a bad decision that ought to be overturned. He consistently opposed federal funding to promote or pay for abortion and supported the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act, the Child Custody Protection Act, and President Reagan's Mexico City policy. South Carolina Democrats squashed Stephen Colbert's fanciful White House bid on Thursday.

Colbert, who poses as a conservative talk-show host on the Comedy Central cable network, filed to get on the ballot as a Democratic candidate in his native South Carolina. His campaign paid a $2,500 filing fee just before the noon deadline, said state Democratic Party Chairwoman Carol Fowler.

However, after about 40 minutes of discussion by top party officials, the executive council voted 13-3 to keep the host of "The Colbert Report" off the ballot.

"He's really trying to use South Carolina Democrats as suckers so he can further a comedy routine," said Waring Howe, a member of the executive council. And Colbert "serves to detract from the serious candidates on the ballot."

You mean we haven't been watching a comedy routine playing out? One where the joke appears to be on the citizens of the United States of America?

Hillary Clinton is in the lead?

I keep reading how Hillary Clinton is "supposedly" the favorite candidate and pushing so far ahead of all the others in popularity and voter-getting status as to be the shoe-in selection by the Democrats. If all this is true, how come I only know "possibly" one... maybe two... people that would even simply "consider" voting for her?

Considering that I'm not living in another dimension of time and space, I'm betting we aren't getting a true picture of where Hillary actually stands with the majority of people in this country. On the other hand, too many people will strive to go with the winner, and if these people believe the hype about Hillary -- that is where they will lean. 'Course, if it looks like Obama is in the lead -- that's where they will wander off to without looking back.

Hillary may know how to play the game and use public relation tactics, but I'm betting she isn't a true winner in the minds of most! If she is... I must be living in isolation and somebody forgot to tell me!

On the Ground in DC

It's been a busy, hectic and fun day getting to and getting around in Washington D.C. today.

We arrived about 4:30 pm local time this afternoon and I got some nice pics as we flew in nearly over the National Mall. On our way to our hotel, our taxi driver was an Ethiopian Christian, a really neat guy. With the way Muslims come down on Christians there, you really have to be serious about your faith to be a Christian.

Got a look at the White House at a distance as we went to a reception where Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family was being honored by Maaynei Ha'Yeshua Medical Center from Israel. They gave him a shofar for his commitment to the defense of life.

Below is a pic from the reception (it's a little blurry; the guy taking the pic wasn't used to my camera); from the left you have Mike Causey of Calvary Baptist Church in Rapid City, Senator Dennis Schmidt (Dist. 33 South Dakota), Bob Fischer, Dale Bartscher of the South Dakota Family Policy Council, some guy who's way out of his league, then Dr. Dobson on the right.



We've had several impromptu meetings and discussions about what's coming up in the next few days, and I've met lots of interesting people. I chatted a bit with one of the leaders of the National Right to Life group, and had a good conversation with one of the co-leaders of the Minutemen who are working to secure our borders. And others too.

Well, it's after midnight and it's an early morning to a long day tomorrow. I still don't know the exact logistics of how I'll be blogging, etc.(we registered late), but hopefully that will be worked out at some time in the early morning.

Values Voters: The Sleeper Awakens?

Fears that values voters will walk away from the GOP if a pro-abortion candidate is nominated for president continues to animate election discussions. And it should: if the Republican Party's base of conservative voters isn't with the party during the campaign, America will definitely elect a Democrat president in 2008.
