statesman.com (May 8, 2007) reported that Emilio Gonzales' hearing (scheduled for today) is postponed due to several witnesses being unable to appear. Within the report, the Statesman mentions the guardian and makes this comment, "Helman, an Austin lawyer, is to report on whether Emilio's mother's wishes — to keep her terminally ill son alive at all costs — is the best course or whether doctors have his best interests at heart in wanting to withdraw treatment, a right they have under Texas law."
As the statement is phrased, what is the first impression that comes to your mind?
Which way do you think the reporter leans?

It's subtle enough not to be completely obvious (this must be a seasoned reporter, to make their bias subtle), but they apparently lean toward getting the weak out of the way.
After all, killing the little lad would be "in his best interest." Besides, it would be allowing the doctors to "exercise their rights" and exercising your rights is always a good thing, right?
