ALEXANDRIA, La. (BP)--"There are ominous signs that the Earth's weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production -– with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth," is how one article I read recently on global climate change begins.
The only thing is, that was from a 1975 Newsweek article entitled "The Cooling World".

Another interesting excerpt:
Having lived in England for three years in the late 1980s, I can tell you that it never got even close enough to freeze the Thames River like that when I was there.
Or try this:
What was their plan?
They were even coming up with hair brained ideas to fight "global cooling" back then...although it appears they had more sense than we do now, realizing anything they might do could have unintended consequences.
There was the same "the end is near" hysteria back then. Sooner or later people in large numbers will figure out they're being sold a case of snake oil, just like they did back then, and global warming will fade away...in favor of some new liberal cause aimed at greater control over the masses.
