A campaign news items du jour is Mike Huckabee's apology to Mitt Romney for his alleged slur about the Mormon religion.
This, of course, is about Huckabee's now-famous question, posed to a New York Times journalist: "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?" (Full Article)

As an evangelical Christian I can say that a candidate's religious beliefs do not concern me as much as their stand on social issues that I think are important. There is no Republican candidate that excites me as yet.
In a recent column Peggy Noonan wonders if Ronald Reagan could make it in the Republican Party today, being only a nominal Christian. My answer is "Absolutely!" Give us another Reagan and we'll sweep him into the White House for eight years without hesitation.
I concur about Reagan, though he was actually a more committed Christian than many people realize.
Perhaps most importantly, his public values mirrored his Christian faith, whether or not he was "talking religion."
