Dobson Still Opposes McCain

Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, remains opposed to John McCain's presidential bid, according to NewsMax:

Dobson, one of the nation’s most influential evangelical Christians, declared more than a year ago that he wouldn't support McCain under any circumstances, saying McCain didn't support traditional marriage values.

A Dobson spokesman told the New York Times’ David Kirkpatrick Wednesday that he stood by that position, and as a matter of conscience could never vote for the Arizona Senator.

The article mentions other conservatives who are opposed to McCain, such as Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, and Pat Toomey.

It also mentions a few conservatives who have warmed to McCain. I have to wonder who changed: McCain or them? Or have they simply lowered their expectations?

Admittedly, at this point the only choice left to conservative voters from the GOP field is, "Which of these is the least lousy candidate?" As for me, I have a tough time answering that question.

Ideology, Vision, Principles...

John McCain, as the Republican nominee, bothers me almost as much as either Hillary Clinton or Barak Obama.

Our country was founded upon an ideology based upon biblical principles, fleshed out in a vision of liberty and justice for all. These were then given verbal expression in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States.

NO ONE in the world beleived our founding fathers would be successful in the birthing of this new kind of nation. A nation, not of blood relationship (tribe, kin, etc...) but of shared ideas, vision, and and immutable principles.

We must demand our leaders be more than political whores for whom winning is the ultimate good even to the point of sacrificing their integrity and honesty just to get the most votes.

John McCain, and those who are thoughtfully, supporting him have done just that.

I would offer that anyone who cannot be trusted to hold fast to the principles of life (anti-abortion), liberty (free speech, especially religious and political speech), and the pursuit of happiness (low taxes at the least)cannot be trusted to govern from principle either.

The Straight Talk Express has been shown to have jumped the track into confusion and clintonesque obfustication.

Straight Talk McCain speaks with forked tongue!
