Advice to Palin and Biden: Be Yourself

The debate Thursday between Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Joe Biden may be one of the most watched political events in some time. The differences and contrasts between the two contestants could not be much more stark in American politics. The policy differences have been talked about endlessly and there is not much that I can add. I just hope that the personal styles, confidence, integrity, and other qualities that bear on a person's ability to lead become the contrasting characteristics in this meeting. Sarah Palin demonstrates all the positive qualities of a leader while Biden demonstrates arrogance, prevarication, condescension and simply wrong-headedness. I hope that Gov. Palin is just herself as she was in this clip from an Alaskan gubenatorial debate. I hope Biden is himself, as well. Americans will learn much from such a debate.

If this is the guy that Sarah Palin debates on Thursday the choice will be clear:

Note on video above: For those who haven't been following, Cheney has proved to be right and Biden has been shown to be "dead wrong," despite his extensive foreign policy experience.

"I just hope that the personal styles,... become the contrasting characteristics in this meeting."

This statement is just crazy. Good government isn't about personality, it's about policy. Palin comes across well because she always tells a story about relating to the people, rather than answering specific questions about details. But intelligence and knowledge are good things! If she understands policy, she should show it and get off this character kick that makes republicans look dumb!

Character, honesty and integrity are more important for leadership than "policy." Biden is a good example of the latter without the former. Thirty years of experience in the Senate yet can't help lying even when the truth would have served his purposes better, and, he is consistently wrong on most foreign policy issues.

Gov. Palin has endured a withering attack by the MSM and DNC yet has managed to maintain her poise and dignity. B. Hussein Obama demands obesiance from the media and then seeks to destroy any political opposition. That is the difference between character and not.
