The Gods of Liberalism Revisited

The lie hasn't changed, and we still fall for it as easily as ever.  But how can we escape the snare?

Yet Another Successful Missile Defense Test

Yet another successful test of our missile defense system occurred yesterday.

From Reuters:

The U.S. military conducted a successful test of its system built to knock out long-range missiles that could be fired by North Korea or Iran, the Pentagon said on Friday.

The target missile for the test over the Pacific was launched from Kodiak, Alaska and an interceptor was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, officials said. The intercept took place at 3:29 p.m. EST.

This is the much-maligned (by the Left) "Star Wars" missile defense system that President Ronald Reagan put in motion...and helped bring down the Soviet Union because they could not keep up with us militarily or technologically. The Soviets finally came realistically to the negotiating table in the 1980s and desperately wanted us to give up Strategic Missile Defense (SDI), but Reagan refused.

President Bill Clinton essentially mothballed the program during his presidency like a good flower child, but President George W. Bush revived the program and has successfully brought segments of the system online.

This missile defense system, which could protect the United States from missile attacks from belligerent nations such as North Korea, China or Iran, is the one president-elect Barack Obama is on record stating he intends to slash.

He wants to gut a weapons system which could save millions of American lives, when it only costs a fraction of the more than $1 trillion dollars spent on unconstitutional social spending every year.

Liberals would rather leave our nation vulnerable in order to spend even more money to hire government to do things that people should be doing for themselves.

What in the world is wrong with the Left's priorities?!

Received a comment on this post from an anonymous idiot (probably best that he/she remained anonymous; they would have really shamed themselves with this comment). It's way too profane to publish, but their lunatic comments revealed so much about the mindset from the Left that I thought I'd edit it for civilized eyes and publish it here:

M.A.D. is necessary to avoid the proliferation of nuclear weapons, it fosters international co-operation, and helps us move towards a world free of war.

On the other hand, SDI is a shortsighted attempt to maintain nuclear superiority at the expense of the world's trust. And one day, someone will develop weapons that can strike the US regardless of anti-missile defences. Then, we're back at square one, and still living in a world without peace.

So. You don't understand the iterated prisoner's dilemma, do you?

And **** your irrelevant little comments about the sanctity of the constitution. Think bigger than a ******* document.

Talk about "shortsighted"! This moron can't even grasp that a missile defense system will protect us for at least decades to come...and in the meantime, we can be preparing for whatever next threat may be coming.

Liberals are about as myopic as a human being can be and not become a fence post.

Loved the comments about the *%!#@ Constitution, too. Judging from their spelling of "defences" they may be British (or just a product of the liberal public education system).

If they are foreign, then such contempt for our nation's highest law and chief bulwark of freedom is not too terribly shocking. But given the number of anti-American whiners we have within our own borders today, it's also not really shocking to hear such contempt from some Americans, either.

Comments and attitudes like this are all too common on the Left, and they reveal the frightening and profound ignorance of our nation's heritage, the kind of free people we were meant to be, and the very things that help keep us free.

Anonymous, your contempt for our freedom, our way of life, and our Constitution disgusts me. But I thank you for revealing, unfiltered, the kind of contempt for Americanism all too common on the Left. Liberals usually hide that contempt better than this, so I thank you for the candid look at your hatred for Americanism.

You do realize that a test that fails to realize its objective is, in fact, a failure - but the pentagon has decided that if they call it "a success", the media will report it as such, and ignorance will prevail yet again:

Decoy fails to deploy, but missile test called 'success'

Anonymous 4:41, did you bother to read the very article you provided a link for...or did you just pull it off the Daily Kos, MoveOn.org or some other anti-American liberal site?

If you'd taken the time to read it, you would have seen that the decoy was only one facet of the test, and a relatively minor one at that. But, I know: defeat and shame in any form for America are wonderful things to be touted and emphasized for the Left.

Our moronic, Constitution-hating, defense-loathing commenter is back, and with even more of a potty mouth than before.

Again, I'm not going to post his/her comment because of the filth, but it does contain more of the Leftist lunacy that is wonderfully candid.

In the latest comment, Potty-mouth is upset because I didn't "adequately respond" to his love of the MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) doctrine. I tried not to point out his glaring ignorance at every point of his comment, but if he insists...

MAD is just that: mad. It's insane. Why would we want to rely on a doctrine of mutually-assured-destruction when we could rely on a doctrine of "Assured Protection" as the missile defense provides? Well if you're an anti-American Leftist, the reason is obvious: America is evil, and cannot be trusted to have military superiority to any other nation, especially over the "peace loving people's" of various communist states. We lived under MAD for decades, and in doing so, lived continually under the treat of nuclear destruction, and also subjection to repeated Soviet incursions in Asia, Europe, Africa and South America. Only in the liberal mind is such a situation to be favored over being able to protect yourself against belligerent nations.

Potty-mouth also faults me for not correcting him on his silly, naive assertion that "peace and diplomacy are self-sustaining." Oh yeah; there's evidence of that all across the pages of history...the fantasy pages in the liberal mind. Only through strength, strength that can stand up to and dissuade aggression from belligerent nations can we obtain and maintain peace. Ronald Reagan proved that; by building a strong defense, we scared the Soviets into a race they could not win...and now that evil empire is no more.

Finally, after Potty-mouth berates the Constitution a little more--along with some really foul profanity--he reveals yet another facet of his profound ignorance about "constitutionally-protected free speech" because I wouldn't publish his profane comment.

Constitutionally-protected free speech pertains to the restriction against government oppression or censorship. In case Potty-mouth missed the obvious, Dakota Voice is not the government. And while Potty-mouth has the right to speak, he does not have the right to be heard.

He should be grateful that any of his sentiments whatsoever made it to the comments section; I usually delete most profane comments without a second thought. He should be honored that I thought his comments were transparent-enough illustrations of liberal lunacy to use as educational material.

I'm sure these lessons will be lost on Potty-mouth, but surely there are other pseudo-liberals out there with a grain of intellectual honesty who will be able to gain from this experience.

Thanks, Potty-mouth, for one of the one of the most clear illustrations of liberal delusion I've seen all week!

Bob, you don't like it when people compare you to Fred Phelps and the rest of the Westboro Baptist Klan, do you? I mean, it's not really fair to take one extreme example of Christian fanaticism and apply it to all evangelicals, because not all evangelicals are like that. So why are you taking this guy's comments and using them as a generalized representation of liberals, treating it like an excuse for you to laugh about how stupid and crazy you think most of them are? Just as not all Christians share the same views as Fred Phelps, not all liberals share the same views as Potty-Mouth here. So maybe you should let this person speak for him or herself; isn't that how you would wish to be treated?

Sadly Potty-mouth's attitude and loathing toward America and the Constitution is all-too-common on the Left; both history and the headlines continually prove that analysis to be correct.

Also, while practically every Christian you'll ever encounter will soundly denounce Phelps' un-Christian hate, it's as rare as hen's teeth to see liberals condemn this kind of loathing for America.
