Billion Brothers Redux

Something else about that story of the Billion brothers' disagreement on abortion today struck me crossways.

Jack Billion said he respects his brother's opinion and his ability to make decisions for himself. "I don't know if necessarily he should be making decisions for the whole state," he said.

As much as any person can in our republic, isn't that what Jack Billion seeks to do himself: make decisions for the whole state? Is he saying his brother is an idiot or something? If it's reasonable for Jack to make decisions for the whole state, why not Stephen?

And Stephen, to my knowledge, isn't seeking a position of authority in South Dakota; he was just stating his opinion about the abortion ban today.

Maybe I didn't eat my Wheaties today...
