Court Getting Tired of ACLU's Lies About Religion

About time!

WorldNetDaily ran a story today about a 9-5 appeals court ruling in favor of a Ten Commandments display.

The original, three-judge panel of the appeals court upheld the display, saying the ACLU's "repeated reference to 'the separation of church and state' … [had] grown tiresome. The First Amendment does not demand a wall of separation between church and state."

Surprising that there area any judges left that recognize this, but welcome nonetheless.

Sadly, by this time, the lie has been repeated so often that it's commonly accepted in society to be true.

The idea that the United States was created to be Godless is absurd in the light of countless historical documents, not the least of which the one which gave birth to this nation by pointing to the truths "That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights" and "appeal[ed] to the Supreme Judge of the world...with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence."

Of course this country wasn't created to be "Godless." What a silly idea. But it was created with the idea that everyone can worship how they want and there will be no official religion.

I find it funny that so many people on the right are convinced that the ACLU is trying to turn this into a country of athiests. They are actually trying to protect minorities from big majority groups like us Christians.

Personally, I don't get what all the hoopla is with Ten Commandments displays. I just don't see the point in wanting to display them everywhere. Sure, they are a part of our religious culture and history, but wanting it displayed in public places seems a bit too prideful. Like "Hey, look at me! I'm a Christian!" I'd rather people show their faith in subtle ways like helping the sick and poor.

Since Day One people have had the freedom to worship as they wanted, and minority religions have been protected from oppression from majority religions--it's called the First Amendment.

But the Left seems to think an amendment which only applies to laws passed by Congress means there can be no expression of religion--at least not Christianity--in public and no acknowledgment of America's Christian heritage in public.

As a consequence of this unconstitutional hysteria, they completely trample the second part of that clause: prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Students are often harassed and prohibited from praying in school, reading their Bibles (which were once the approved textbook in our schools), or even sharing their faith with other students.
