Scarborough Upbraids His Panel of Pundits Over President-Select

Lately, Joe Scarborough has shown signs of softening the conservative image that he made while serving in Congress. I suppose that working at MSNBC would have that effect on most anyone, by osmosis alone. The slime oozing from Keith Obermouth is sure to get on everything at MSNBC and innocent people are probably contaminated daily.

But in this piece, Joe has his say and the fellow pundits are practically speechless, except for a lame attempt by Mike Barnicle to defend his once-great profession.

Emanuel May Be On Tape With Blagojevich

Rahm Emanuel may have had discussions with Gov. Blagojevich and the FBI may have the tape according to Chicago news sources. This, despite denials by Emanuel and president-elect Obama. Emanuel has been dodging reporters and has not made any statement about the report as of this post.

A Look at the Harsh Reality of Abortion

The abortion debate often ends in a stalemate of a woman's right to choose vs. the right of a baby to life. The procedure that ends the life an unborn baby remains abstract for most people, but to truly understand the argument of those of us opposed to this gruesome practice I decided to post this Youtube video. As a physician who has witnessed this procedure first-hand while in med school I can attest that the depictions shown here are typical and are not unusual occurrences.

This video contains very graphic images that I hope most viewers will find very disturbing. Be forewarned.

With the election of Barrack Obama it is unlikely we'll see an end to this abom- ination anytime soon, but let us pray that hearts will be moved and our country will recognise the evil that has produced the deaths of over 40 million innocent lives.

Indianapolis - Lines were long and tempers flared Wednesday not to vote but to get paid for canvassing for Barack Obama. Several hundred people are still waiting to get their pay for last-minute campaigning. Police were called to the Obama campaign office on North Meridian Street downtown to control the crowd.

The line was long and the crowd was angry at times.

"I want my money today! It's my money. I want it right now!" yelled one former campaign worker.

ObamaTravel to the Hostile States

OBAMAtravel.org is a website that apparently is intended to help finance the travel of Obama supporters from “safe” states like New York and California to swing states to “volunteer” in polls and get-out-the-vote programs. It seems that in some cases the volunteers also register to vote in said states thus perverting the electoral process. Some volunteers may have remained registered in their home state and may have taken advantage of early voting prior to their OBAMAtravel.

The website is careful in being not too specific, but those looking to travel to swing states seem to know what is expected.

McCain is reaching out to Hispanic voters through the helping hands of Eduardo Verastegui, a household name among Latinos for his roles on Spanish television and his time in the music group “Kairo.”

Though part of an industry that bleeds blue, the Mexican actor -- now in the U.S. -- studied both presidential candidates’ records, then contacted the McCain campaign and told them he wanted to get involved.

“Anything I can do to help,” Verastegui said he told the campaign. “I’m so grateful to this nation that opened this door to my dreams. I love this country. I want the best for this country.”

Verastegui’s message to his fellow Hispanics: John McCain defends the values most precious to our community -- pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-conservative judges who will uphold family values, and pro-immigration reform.

Obama: 'I don’t believe people should be able to own guns'

Barack Obama tells us he supports Second Amendment gun rights.

But then, he's also told us domestic terrorist Bill Ayers was just "a guy in my neighborhood"...before he told us he didn't know about Ayers' terrorist past...before he told us he thought Ayers had been "rehabilitated."

Like he also told us the cutoff for his middle-class-lovin', rich-folks-hatin' tax cuts was at $250,000...before we started hearing that cutoff drop to $200,000...then $150,000.

Like we heard in the presidential debates that Obama opposes "gay marriage"...while his campaign website says he plans to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), allow homosexuals to serve openly in the military, and push pro-homosexual "hate crime" legislation, and his wife Michelle says they're going to push homosexual adoptions.

So, Obama supports gun rights? That's not what he told author John Lott.

Free Republic has a transcript of an interview of Lott by Dave Bose when Bose was substituting on the Michael Medved Show.

John Lott: We were both at the University of Chicago. I was first in the business school and then I taught in the law school and I was there for like, five years. He was a lecturer there and – I don’t know – there were probably a couple of dozen times or whatever that we exchanged words. I saw him at a couple of seminars. I ran into and talked to people that were nearby him. One of the things though, is that the conversations all tended to be extremely short when I was involved with him.

John Lott: The first time I met him, I went over and introduced myself. He said, “Oh, you’re the gun guy.”

John Lott: And I said, “Yeah, I guess so.”

John Lott: And he said, “I don’t believe people should be able to own guns.”

And Lott reiterates Obama's statement:

John Lott: Yeah, that he said, “I do not believe people should be able to own guns.”

Dave Bose: Okay

John Lott: I mean, if you just take the gun issue for a second, here’s a guy that when the supreme court decision came down at the end of June, said that the Supreme Court was merely confirming his own position on guns, that he believed that it was an individual right, that he always believed that it was, and that he apparently opposed the DC gun ban.

John Lott: The problem is you can find him making numerous statements prior to the Supreme Court decision where he said that he supported the DC gun ban. There are interviews that he did before the so-called Potomac Primaries in the spring, involving Maryland, Virginia, and DC, where he was interviewed on TV about that and he said quite firmly and emphatically that he was in favor of the ban. You have statements in the Chicago Tribune last fall.

John Lott: But overall, Obama has, there’s no doubt that he’s the most anti-gun presidential candidate that’s ever been nominated. In 1996 there was a candidate issue statement when he was first running for the state senate saying that he supported a ban on handguns. In 1998 there was a similar candidate statement saying that he supported a ban on semi-automatic guns. He supported legislation that would ban the sale of guns within five miles of any school or park, essentially banning virtually guns from being sold any place in virtually all of the states in the United States. There’s many other types of similar statements that one could go through on that.

What it really boils down to is that Obama knows he's way too liberal for most Americans, so he has to "revise" history a little bit so you'll think he won't threaten your Second Amendment freedom.

With a track record on honesty and forthrightness like Obama's, are you ready to trust him with the Second Amendment?

Obama Opposes Gun Rights

Barack Obama has stated repeatedly during this presidential campaign his support for the Second Amendment Rights of Americans, but his past record and his use of clever, but non-specific terminology, say otherwise. When he talks about “common sense” gun laws he means things like required trigger locks on all guns in the home, which would make those guns mostly useless if actually needed for defense. The following are some of the other “common sense” measures he has supported:

Naturally, Obama supporters will call the video above ridiculous "scare tactics." Look at Obama's record and decide for yourself if you, a gun owner and advocate of the right of self-defense, have a reason to be concerned about what an Obama administration will mean to us. Consider also the likelihood that Obama will have a Congress lead by Schumer, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank and many other notorious gun-grabbers. The Second Amendment guarantees Americans the right of ultimate authority over government, by threat of armed revolt if they should seek to usurp authority not granted by the Constitution. Obama, supported by George Soros, will seek to deny Americans their Second Amendment rights. He may do it incrementally with "common sense" restrictions, but the goal is a disarmed citizenry with all power centralized in Washington.

While a state senator, Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and target rifle owned by Illinois citizens. Obama supported a bill that would shut down law-abiding firearm manufacturers including Springfield Armory, Armalite, Rock River Arms and Les Baer. Without a doubt, Barack Obama has proven himself to be an enemy of the law abiding firearm owner. At the same time, Obama has proven himself to be a friend to the hardened criminal. While a state senator, Obama voted 4 times against legislation that would allow a homeowner to use a firearm in defense of home and family.
Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a "friend" of the law-abiding gun owner?
And speaking of friends, you can always tell a person by the company they keep. Obama counts among his friends the Rev. Michael Pfleger - a renegade Chicago priest who has openly called for the murder of gun shop owners and pro-gun legislators. Then there is his buddy Richard Daley, the mayor of Chicago who has declared that if it were up to him, nobody would be allowed to own a gun. And let's not forget Obama's pal George Soros - the guy who has pumped millions of dollars into the UN's international effort to disarm law-abiding citizens.
Obama has shown that he is more than willing to use other people's money to fund his campaign to take your guns away from you. While a board member of the leftist Joyce Foundation, Barack Obama wrote checks for tens of millions of dollars to extremist gun control organizations such as the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence and the Violence Policy Center.
Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a "friend" of the law-abiding gun owner?
By now, I'm sure that many of you have received mailings from an organization called "American Hunters and Shooters Association(AHSA)" talking about what a swell fellow Obama is and how he honors the 2nd Amendment and how you will never have to worry about Obama coming to take your guns. Let me make it perfectly clear - everything the AHSA says about Obama is pure hogwash. The AHSA is headed by a group of left-wing elitists who subscribe to the British view of hunting and shooting. That is, a state of affairs where hunting and shooting are reserved for the wealthy upper-crust who can afford guided hunts on exclusive private reserves. The AHSA is not your friend, never will be.
In closing, I'd like to remind you that I'm a guy who has actually gone nose to nose with Obama on gun rights issues. The Obama I know cannot even begin to identify with this nation's outdoor traditions. The Obama I know sees you, the law abiding gun owner, as nothing but a low-class lummox who is easily swayed by the flash of a smile and a ration of rosy rhetoric. The Obama I know is a stony-faced liar who has honed his skill at getting what he wants - so long as people are willing to give it to him.
That's the Barack Obama I know.

The Obama spokesperson issued this statement about the interview:

"There's nothing wrong with tough questions, but reporters have the very important job of sharing the truth with the public -- not misleading the American people with false information. Senator Biden handled the interview well; however, the anchor was completely unprofessional. Senator Biden's wife is not running for elected office, and there are many other stations in the Orlando television market that would gladly conduct a respectful and factual interview with her."

Against All Enemies

I and millions of others have taken the following oath administered to all members of the Armed Forces of the United States. This oath does not have an expiration date.

“I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…So help me God.”

Domestic enemies abound. They are those that seek to subvert the Constitution or do harm to the people of the United States of America.

William Ayers is a terrorist, a traitor, and a coward (as seen in the preceding post). Barack Obama has not been forthright to questions about his relationship with Ayers. Can we be sure that he will honor and uphold the oath that he seeks to take in January?

Admitted Terrorist Ayers Not Welcome in Nebraska

Greta Van Susteren interviewed Gov. Dave Heineman of Nebraska this evening and he announced that the controversial invitation to domestic terrorist Bill Ayers to speak at the University of Nebraska has been withdrawn. The governor had taken a firm position on the matter and advised university president J.B. Milliken that hosting Ayers was not in the best interest of the university. This coming after the governor’s office was swamped with irate calls from citizens angry about the speech planned for November 15.

Michelle Malkin has been on this story from the outset and has a follow-up posted this evening with the good news that Ayers has been officially dis-invited from speaking.

Just 11 days after next month’s election, the University of Illinois-Chicago professor, William Ayers, is scheduled to speak at a student research conference held by the UNL College of Education and Human Science.
Gov. Dave Heineman released a statement saying that UNL leaders should not allow Ayers, a 1960s radical-turned-professor at the University of Illinois, to talk during a campus event on Nov. 15.
‘Chairman of the Board of Regents Chuck Hassebrook and President of the University J.B. Milliken should immediately rescind the invitation extended to Bill Ayers to speak at the University,’ the governor said. ‘This is an embarrassment to the University of Nebraska and the State of Nebraska. Bill Ayers is a well known radical who should never have been invited to the University of Nebraska.’
Meanwhile, Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Nebraska, today said in a statement that he is disappointed that UNL invited William Ayers to speak on campus Nov. 15.
‘His past involvement in a violent protest group and incendiary comments are not consistent with the agenda of unity that we need in America today,’ Nelson said. ‘I encourage the university to reconsider this decision.”’

Obama, the "Anti-JFK"

The following commentary on the last presidential debate, originally posted at Human Events, should appeal to conservatives and traditional (i.e., Truman/Kennedy) liberals. Praise his charisma, his ability to relate, the supposedly debonair figure he cuts in a suit, but realize Obama emerged Tuesday as the anti-JFK with a refrain that should offend young Americans: ask what your government can do for you, not what you can do for your country.

I’m part of this young vote, an age bracket known for waging daily Wars of Independence. And this dearly-bought trait is exactly what Obama wants to rob me of.

Take his tax plan. As a young voter earning a typical starting salary (which puts me in the 95 percent Obama has decreed “middle class”), I get a tax cut, but at the expense of 5 percent of my fellow workers, who will pick up the slack in the budget.

I know a lot of hard-working Americans -- such as my father -- who fall into that 5 percent. They’ve worked darn hard to get there, often at the expense of their health. They may live comfortably, but they’re not living like Brad Pitt, either. Yet Obama proposes I vote so that I get a tax break which my father will have to pay for. So much for being financially independent. So much for the dreams of my father.

Obama also told me Tuesday night that I had a “right” to health care. There’s a reason the Declaration of Independence does not read life, liberty, and the pursuit of health care. Depending on Uncle Sam for health care isn’t a declaration of independence -- it’s a declaration of dependence. Obama invokes a truly touching story about his mother dying of cancer and having to argue with insurance companies over coverage. But one thing is more certain than death and taxes: increased government oversight always brings more arguing, not less. Any young adult who has stood in line at the DMV to get his or her driver’s license can agree with that.

It’s appalling that a candidate who has reached out to young Americans with the lifeline of hope and change wants to foster a culture of dependence, and, even worse, selfishness. Every sacrifice of independence Obama asks me to make is an appeal to this cardinal sin of youth – the government owes me health care, the government owes me a share of the fiscal prosperity others have worked so hard to gain.

Yes, Obama has encouraged us to serve through his brainchild -- a massive, government-sponsored volunteer program. But even this call involves a deeper dependence on government. Since when did people need a government program to give them opportunities to serve? Charity starts with your neighbor. It does not start in Washington.

To my generation: we can do better. We can -- and should -- set a higher standard for ourselves than Obama is asking. He wants the government to hand us our health care, our education, other people’s money, even our community service. He wants us to be the generation of soup kitchens -- but with the mentality he's fostering in us, we will be the ones standing in line for handouts at the end of his term.

McCain and Palin, meanwhile, have encouraged me to shoulder responsibility, work hard, and enjoy the fruits of my labor, not someone else’s. My country fought a war for this independence. Which ticket really believes in it?

Obama: Power Trumps Morality

Jeff Jacoby of the Boston Globe focused on one question and answer during the debate last night. Brokaw asked of both candidates, what would be your “doctrine” in regards to intervening in the actions of other countries when genocide is occurring and when the U.S. otherwise does not have a particular national interest? Brokaw gave the examples of Rwanda and Somalia in which millions have died in genocidal attacks and in ethnic cleansing.

Jaboby writes in his article on-line:

In such cases, answered Obama, ‘we have moral issues at stake.’ Of course the United States must act to stop genocide, he said. ‘When genocide is happening, when ethnic cleansing is happening . . . and we stand idly by, that diminishes us.’
But that wasn't how Obama sounded last year, when he was competing for the Democratic nomination and was unbending in his demand for an American retreat from Iraq. Back then, he dismissed fears that a US withdrawal would unleash a massive Iraqi bloodbath. ‘Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Thursday the United States cannot use its military to solve humanitarian problems and that preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn't a good enough reason to keep US forces there,’ the AP reported on July 20, 2007 (my italics).
What kind of candidate is it whose moral response to genocide - genocide - can reverse itself 180 degrees in a matter of months? Is that the kind of candidate who ought to be the leader of the free world?

This is more than a minor slip. Obama answers Brokaw the way most Americans would expect their president to answer, recognising the moral responsibility we have in the world. But when it comes to Iraq Obama clearly betrays a bias that cannot be explained except that he has made a calculated decision to abandon Iraq regardless the price that might be paid in human blood and misery. This can only be a political expediency dictated by the Democrat base represented by MoveOn.org and other Soros-backed organizations. This tells us more about the man Barrack Hussein Obama than all his speeches and promises and even his two memoirs. In essence, political power comes first, humanitarian considerations a distant second, at best.

Admittedly, this Obama Youth Corps has a bit of work to do to match the physical development and skill of the youth group that they emulate, but some believe that there will be plenty of time for the Obamafurer to perfect the Obama Jugend Korps while saving the world and ushering in a millenia of peace and prosperity. More Chicago Machine Politics

Most Illinoians, like me, find such stories to be business as usual in Chicago, but this year such graft bears upon our national future. For those still confused about what exactly a "community organizer" does, this story from the Chicago Suntimes helps us understand. It is not complicated, really. The money earned by one group of citizens is taken by the "organizers" to give to others as a reward for political support. This is what Obama learned while being raised by the Chicago Machine. That, and that opponents are not only to be opposed, they must be eliminated.

Obama grant being probed

A $100,000 state grant for a botanic garden in Englewood that then-state Sen. Barack Obama awarded in 2001 to a group headed by a onetime campaign volunteer is now under investigation by the Illinois attorney general amid new questions, prompted by Chicago Sun-Times reports, about whether the money might have been misspent.
The garden was never built. And now state records obtained by the Sun-Times show $65,000 of the grant money went to the wife of Kenny B. Smith, the Obama 2000 congressional campaign volunteer who heads the Chicago Better Housing Association, which was in charge of the project for the blighted South Side neighborhood.

Bitter-Clinger Alert

If you missed the presidential debate last night here is a brief video that pretty much summarizes the exchange between the candidates. After McCain tells a compelling story of his position on national defense and references the bracelet that he wears with the name of a fallen soldier who perished fighting in Baghdad, Obama, in a “me too” moment retorts “Look! I have a bracelet, too.” It’s from…uh…uh…” (While looking down at his wrist.)

Then there is word that legal beagles in Missouri are going to work for the Obama campaign and are threatening to bring charges against anyone who says anything bad, or what they believe is untrue, about their man. St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce and St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch are threatening to bring libel charges against those who speak out falsely against Barack Obama. KMOV-TV in St. Loius has this video report. These are county and city attorneys threatening to use the authority granted them by the people to squelch political speech. You know, the Left warned us that if we elected George Bush we'd have jack-booted thugs from the government denying us our constitutional rights. I guess they were right.

In a related story, Obama for President lawyers have sent letters to radio stations in Pensylvania and Ohio insisting that they refuse to air ads produced by the NRA, claiming the ads falsely portray Obama’s positions on Second Amendment issues. NRA lawers have drafted an extensive rebuttal of the charges that is included in this post by Ben Smith.

All this, and certainly much more to come, are the tactics of Chicago Machine politics, the mother’s milk that Obama was raised on back on the South Side. We should expect nothing less. Change, indeed!

Some Believe Obama Responsible for SNL Skit

The sad demise of NBC (owned by General Electric) as a viable, serious and entertaining television network is no longer a subject for debate. This week’s Satuday Night Live falls into line with Oberman, Maddow and Mathews, attacking Govenor Palin with viscious and scurrilous innuendo that borders on slander. In an unprecedented display of hatred, maliciousness and hubris, SNL has produced a skit that accuses Todd Palin of incest with his daughters. This from the tolerant Left who have decried the practice of character assassination and the “politics of personal destruction.” There is reason to believe that B. Hussein Obama personally approved this skit and may have even suggested the idea to SNL writers. Obama has not yet shown evidence to the contrary.

‘What about the husband?’ asked a Times reporter [in the SNL skit] during a mock assignment meeting for the paper. ‘You know he's doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It's Alaska.’

The assignment editor for the Times, portrayed by actor James Franco, responded: ‘He very well could be. Admittedly, there is no evidence of that, but on the other hand, there is no convincing evidence to the contrary. And these are just some of the lingering questions about Governor Palin.’

As election day nears we can be sure that this is not the last or the worst that the Obamites have in store for Americans. Machine politics, à la Chicago, knows no limits when it comes to appropriating power.

More, as promised, on Senator Joe Biden (why should Sarah Palin get all the coverage?). Remember, you read it here first: on September 11 this blog reported a mounting backlash from Catholic bishops against Biden, Barack Obama's "Catholic" pro-abortion running mate. At that time I estimated eight bishops had come out to denounce Biden; the total is now 55. Beyond that, Biden is being trashed across every state of the Union by Catholic newspapers, TV and radio stations, and blogs. It is a tsunami of rejection.

The story has now hit the secular media. Last Saturday Time magazine asked: "Does Biden Have a Catholic Problem?" By Wednesday the issue had moved onto the front page of the New York Times. Joe the Jinx has blown it, big time. Biden has only himself to blame: he started this war, with his notoriously undisciplined mouth. He knew the dangers. Last August, Archbishop Raymond Burke, former Archbishop of St Louis and now Prefect of the Apostolic Segnatura in Rome, said communion should be denied to pro-abortion politicians "until they have reformed their lives". London Telegraph

The Roman Catholic Church of the 1970s and '80s, infused with liberalism on almost all social issues, has been harshly shaken from its smug complacency by scandals and shrinking attendance. The ascendancy of two relatively conservative Popes, both loved and admired by Catholics and non-Catholics alike, has advanced doctrinal conservatism and has caused many in the Church leadership to become less tolerant of doctrinal apostasy. American bishops are saying enough is enough. Support Church doctrine or quit calling yourself a Catholic.

Theologically conservative Christians of all denominations, as well as many Jews, applaud the bishops in their willingness to stand for what is morally right and see in these politicians moral inconsistencies that cause some to wonder about their veracity and sincerity on other issues. Pelosi, Biden, et al may be shoring-up their political base but are turning away a huge constituency that once was owned by Democrats.
