The Gods of Liberalism Revisited

The lie hasn't changed, and we still fall for it as easily as ever.  But how can we escape the snare?

Palin Passed on What Might Have Been a Lethal Shot

I thought Gov. Palins performance last evening was masterful, but I confess I did cringe once when the subject of the financial mess came up. Sen. Biden, true to Democrat talking-points, tried to blame the failure of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on Republican efforts to relax regulatory oversight. Anybody with just a minimum of understanding knows that to be false, but Gov. Palin’s response was to blame the problem on “greed on Wall Street.” Well, she is wrong, too, and I believe she knows the truth but, following McCain’s lead, declines to voice it in the name of civility and “congressional congeniality.”

The following reports from Fox News concisely place the blame where it belongs—on congressional Democrats and their wealthy cronies. The folks charged with overseeing operations at Fanny and Freddie refused to listen to warnings, choosing instead to reward those responsible for the failed policies, and also helping themselves to a nice piece of the graft for all their trouble.

Democrats are going to continue to try to hang the failures in the lending markets on Republicans, and this may be their most effective stategy, as polls over the past two weeks have shown. Gov. Palin could have (and should have) shot that boat out of the water if only she had been willing to state the facts and call out the Dems on their years of corruption and malfeasance. Barney Frank, Christopher Dodd, Barrack Obama, Jamie Gorelick, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are names of only a few of those who could have acted to prevent the financial meltdown but were busy sucking the teats of the bloated sows called Fannie and Freddie.

Enemies Within

Move America Forward Freedom PAC has posted the following video that reveals just how supportive are some of our Democrat friends of our military. Why would anyone call them unpatriotic?!

Denver Revisited

Sadly, the Democratic National Convention is nothing more than a misty memory; the old platitudes, promises and pablum carefully packed away to stock future Democrat speeches well into the foreseeable future. But we can relive the excitement over and over thanks to YouTube. No greater excitement can be found than among the zealous supporters that came out just for the occasion. Hot Air's Jason Mattera took the trouble to speak to a few and, unlike the speeches inside the convention, we actually learn something about who the Democrats are and what they stand for.

If Marguerite Ann Johnson (aka Maya Angelou) could be the poet laureate of the Clintons' Democrat Party, I suppose Richard has a shot at the honor with the Messiah-in-waiting. He did eventually get two words to rhyme.

Bush Leaves Pelosi With Few Options

Democrats, lead by friend of Big Tuna Nancy Pelosi, have found themselves out maneuvered once again by the “boy president,” and it is hard to imagine a counter strategy that would not anger far-left supporters and moneyman George Soros. Pelosi and Reid have claimed the increasingly untenable position of the radical environmentalists and America-haters by adamantly refusing to consider proposals to increase production of known U.S. oil and natural gas reserves such as those in ANWR, the Destin Dome in the Gulf of Mexico just off the Florida panhandle and the abundant oil and natural gas in several Rocky Mountain states.

The Democrats’ position on new drilling is a political albatross that is certainly going to have its effects come November and in a bold (and perhaps brilliant) move President Bush yesterday again called upon Congress to end restrictions on drilling for new oil, chastising Democrats for not allowing a vote in the House prior to the August recess.

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush chastised Democrats on Saturday for refusing to allow a vote on whether to lift the federal ban on offshore oil drilling before lawmakers departed for their summer recess.

‘To reduce pressure on prices, we need to increase the supply of oil, especially oil produced here at home,’ Bush said in his weekly radio address. It was the fourth time this week that he has called for Congress to end the drilling restrictions off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts and in the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

‘But the leaders of the Democratic Congress have refused to allow a vote’ on whether the drilling moratoriums should be lifted, Bush complained.
(My Way News)

By so doing, Pelosi and Company are put in the win-less position of either continuing to resist efforts to increase American oil production, and thus lower fuel costs, as it surely will in both the short term and long term, or (horrors!) concede to the demands of Bush and the minority Republicans. In the latter case Democrats can kiss their base and their major source of money goodbye. In choosing to be obstinate in the face of an obvious remedy and against the sentiment of the majority of Americans, the Democrats (i.e., Pelosi and Reid) have secured a position from which retreat is unthinkable and defense is political suicide. Brilliant!

August in Denver: Standby for Fun

When liberals are forced to the periphery of power, as they have been since at least 1994 and up until the last few years, they still hold socialist, big government, nanny-state, un-American ideas, but usually have sense enough to moderate their message to the voting masses knowing that their ideas just don’t appeal much to the God-country-guns-cheeseburgers and fries-Pabsts Blue Ribbon crowd.

Not so when they sense a shift of political winds in their favor. When the Democrats win some congressional seats by running distinctly conservative candidates and when they have been successful in their efforts to influence political discourse in their favor with the complicity of a sycophant national media, well now, the time is right to flex one’s muscles and implement some of the wacky ideas so carefully secreted from the public debate until the time was right.

First up, we have Denver mayor, John Hickenlooper who has imposed his will upon the Democratic National Committee (not that it took much cajoling) saying let’s “make this the greenest convention in the history of the planet.” Where to begin? For starters, there will be no fried foods of any kind at any official functions of the DNC at the convention. No fried chicken, no fried green tomatoes, no gyoza, no chimichangas. Never mind that deep fat frying is a mainstay of Southern and soul-food cuisine and according to food experts ““[It] has been called ‘a cooking technique which Africans introduced to America.’” No one expects to win the south anyway and everyone knows how African-Americans will vote.

Next, the city of Denver has to see to it that they are not embarrassed by the homeless population. After all, homelessness is a Republican problem and so can’t be seen on national television during the Democratic National Convention in a liberal bastion like Denver. What to do? Solution: Round them up, all 4000 of them, force them into shelters and make sure they are "comfortable" with flat-screen TVs, cable and bingo games. A menu of snacks and beverages is yet to be announced. This will all be financed by private donations from the community. This all puts me in mind of the plan by LA officials a few years back to give shopping carts to the homeless in order to make life a little better for them.

Liberalism is so much fun to watch when it starts getting some traction. It’s just that beneath all the frivolity lies great and menacing danger to ourselves and our country. As a TV sitcom, I would never miss an episode of Liberalism in the City, but in real life it scares the hell out of me.
