Florida Marriage Amendment on Track for Passage

The Florida Times-Union reports that with 39% of the vote counted, Florida's marriage protection amendment, Amendment 2, is ahead with 62% of the vote.

Unlike most states which require a simple majority, Florida requires 60% for passage.

Arizona and California also have marriage protection Amendments on the ballot, but so far no results have been released.

Arizona tried a marriage protection amendment in 2006 but homosexual activists successfully demonized the bill by convincing heterosexuals that they would lose rights under the bill. Pro-family forces are more hopeful this time.

California passed a Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in 2000 which defined marriage as between a man and a woman. However, the California Supreme Court ignored this law in May 2008 and manufactured a "right" for homosexuals to call their unions "marriage."

California's Proposition 8 has faced an uphill battle because the CA attorney general changed the language of the petition to prejudice voters against the measure by claiming it would take away rights from homosexuals.

The opposition has been well-financed by Hollywood liberals and pro-homosexual forces in California and around the country.
