Obama Blows Main Tenet of Christianity

WorldNetDaily, the Religion News Service and The Nation indicate Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham and head of Samaritan's Purse, asked Barack Obama some pointed questions about his faith in a closed meeting recently.

From WorldNetDaily:

According to River's account, Graham went on to ask Obama whether he believed Jesus is the only way to salvation.

Rivers, a declared Obama supporter, recalled: "Obama said, brilliantly, 'Jesus is the only way for me. I'm not in a position to judge other people.'"

Not exactly an answer that will satisfy Biblical Christians--and not an answer in harmony with the Bible, either. In fact, not in harmony with what Jesus said.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." - Acts 4:12

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." - John 3:36

I think you get the point.

God doesn't provide an "Oh but I'm not a Christian" excuse to get out of Hell, nor an "Okay for thee, not for me" exception.

A man who doesn't even understand the most basic and foundational tenet of Christianity isn't likely to win over too many serious Christians.

It is exactly that tenet of Christianity, exclusivity, that troubles the unbeliever so much. They want salvation on their terms and not God's. I believe that this is the fundamental problem for non-Christians, past and present, that has lead to hatred and persecution.

Of course, we believe that everyone has the right to accept or reject God's Word, but Christians should never compromise the Truth as revealed in the Bible. And that is what Obama has done. Jesus said, “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 10:33)

In the past, Billy Graham answered the question the same way Obama answered.

Obama will be President to all of the people. It does not matter what he really believes, it would be inappropriate for any President to condemn people that do not believe in Jesus.

I find it hard to believe Billy Graham would say such a thing.

Franklin Graham didn't ask Obama if he condemned people who don't believe in Jesus; he asked Obama if Jesus is the only way to salvation.

For a Christian to answer any other way than "Yes" indicates that Christian lacks a fundamental understanding of his own faith. (Or he's lying to curry favor--and I wouldn't want to answer for that when I stand before God)
