Homophobia is Perverse?

I know that some people throw the term "pervert" around as a slur or dirty name, yet the word still has legitimate meaning.

The dictionary defines "pervert" as

1 a: to cause to turn aside or away from what is good or true or morally right : corrupt b: to cause to turn aside or away from what is generally done or accepted : misdirect

2 a: to divert to a wrong end or purpose : misuse b: to twist the meaning or sense of : misinterpret

Likewise, "perverse" is defined:

1 a: turned away from what is right or good : corrupt b: improper, incorrect c: contrary to the evidence or the direction of the judge on a point of law

2 a: obstinate in opposing what is right, reasonable, or accepted : wrongheaded b: arising from or indicative of stubbornness or obstinacy

3: marked by peevishness or petulance : cranky

4: marked by perversion : perverted

So when I read today at LifeSiteNews that Brazilian President Luiz Lula said that opposition to homosexuality was "perverse," in addition to recalling sayings like "the pot calling the kettle...", a passage from the Bible came to mind.

Here's what the LifeSiteNews article said:

After calling for a universal embrace of the homosexual movement, the president affirmed that "homophobia" is perhaps "the most perverse disease impregnated in the human head."

Homosexuality fits the definition of "pervert" and "perverse" because it perverts (to divert to a wrong end or purpose; misuse; turns aside from what is good and morally right) God's design--and the apparent natural function--for human sexuality and is perverse in that the act and those who promote it are being "obstinate in opposing what is right, reasonable, or accepted" and are often "marked by peevishness or petulance."

That Bible verse that came to mind? Isaiah 5:20, which says

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light

I guess those words can also simply describe the kind of world we've come to live in.
