Senate Candidate Dykstra Endorsed by 56 South Dakota Legislators

Sioux Falls, S.D. – With just three weeks until the June 3 Primary election, an overwhelming majority of South Dakota Legislators announced their endorsement of U.S. Senate Candidate Joel Dykstra. The timing of the endorsements is significant because it indicates Dykstra is the clear choice of South Dakota Republican Legislators among the candidates vying to be the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.

Dykstra said he is proud to have so many of his Legislative colleagues backing his bid for U.S. Senate. “There is no greater compliment or display of support than to have the people who know you best and have worked closely with you come out and publicly endorse your candidacy. I sincerely thank all of them for their vote of confidence,” he said.

Republican State Legislators from nearly every District in South Dakota, including legislative leaders, are supporting Dykstra. Senate leadership endorsements include Senate Majority Leader Dave Knudson and Assistant Senate Majority Leader Thomas Dempster, both of Sioux Falls. House leadership endorsements include House Majority Leader Larry Rhoden of Union Center, Speaker of the House Thomas Deadrick of Platte, Speaker Pro Tempore Tim Rave of Baltic, and House Majority Whips Shantel Krebs of Sioux Falls, Thomas Brunner of Nisland and Bob Faehn of Watertown.

Senate Majority Leader Dave Knudson said he believes Dykstra is the strongest Republican candidate to represent South Dakota in the U.S. Senate. “I am endorsing Joel because based on the time we have served together in the South Dakota Legislature I can attest to his strong work ethic. I am also confident in his ability to represent the people of South Dakota and put their conservative values first when he goes to Washington,” he said.

House Majority Leader Larry Rhoden echoes the strong support for Dykstra. “I have worked side-by-side with Joel in our leadership positions in the House and have seen first-hand what an intelligent and capable leader he is. He understands and has a deep working knowledge of the issues critical to our state. Joel has also proven he has the experience and the leadership needed to make a difference for the people of South Dakota,” he said.
