Senator Thune Speaks at Adoption Agency Fundraiser

Senator John Thune spoke at the Bethany Christian Dinner in Rapid City Friday night.

Bethany Christian Services is an adoption agency that not only helps adoptive couples find children to adopt, but also helps women who want to place their child for adoption.

I interviewed Renee Eggebraaten, the head of Bethany Christian Services in Rapid City, a couple of years ago. She told me about all the counseling services they provide to both couples and women seeking to place their children for adoption. They perform extensive screening to ensure the right placement and a safe home for children. Renee told me there are so many loving couples out there who adopt multiple children, often across racial lines, and some adopt many special-needs children who can sometimes be hard to place.

Thune's speech was mentioned by KXMC in Minot, but I don't recall seeing it mentioned in the Rapid City Journal.

I wasn't able to attend, but I am told by several people who where there that it was an excellent, inspirational speech. Since Bethany Christian Services is a Christian organization, and Thune is himself a Christian, I'm told he spoke from his faith about the important work the organization does. Attendees said Scripture "rolled off his tongue" and you could tell that faith is serious and important to Thune.

Sometimes in the abortion debate, abortion proponents claim pro-life people don't care about children once they're born. Bethany Christian Services and their extensive clientele are proof of the complete fallacy of that weak argument.
