The Gods of Liberalism Revisited

The lie hasn't changed, and we still fall for it as easily as ever.  But how can we escape the snare?

Seeds of Financial Crisis May Have Been Sown by Barney Frank

While apparently common knowledge in Washington for some time, the relationship between Barney Frank and Herb Moses was only brought to national attention last evening by Bill O’Reilly. The conflict of interest that is obvious in this relationship was treated as verboten because of the gay implications and the fact that the scandal involved a Democrat. Had this been Larry Craig who sat on a committee that regulated an organization for which his gay lover worked, well, you know we’d have had investigations and hearings and the MSM salivating over themselves in orgasmic excitement. Exposing homosexual proclivities is only tolerated by the “gay community” when Republicans are involved, otherwise we get an indignant “how dare you” from the Left.

So here, as the presidential campaign heats up, we find that the financial crisis that began with the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac may in some part have been due to the activities of Congressman Barney Frank on behalf of his live-in homosexual lover Herb Moses. We can expect the MSM to react in their now predictable fashion: “Yawn.”

From the American Thinker website:

Why Barney Frank resisted additional regulation of Fannie Mae
Ethel C. Fenig
While Bill O'Reilly absolutely exploded at Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) on his Fox news show The O'Reilly Factor, screaming at him, "Shouldn't everybody in the country be angry with you right now?" - while asking Frank to remove himself as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, which oversaw Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, O'Reilly was uncharacteristically reticent about another factor in Frank's personal life which bear upon these institutions.

What a shame.

Bill Sammon of Fox News explains
Now that Fannie Mae is at the epicenter of a financial meltdown that threatens the U.S. economy, some are raising new questions about Frank's relationship with Herb Moses, who was Fannie’s assistant director for product initiatives. Moses worked at the government-sponsored enterprise from 1991 to 1998, while Frank was on the House Banking Committee, which had jurisdiction over Fannie. Both Frank and Moses assured the Wall Street Journal in 1992 that they took pains to avoid any conflicts of interest. Critics, however, remain skeptical. And they have every reason to be skeptical; Moses and Frank were lovers who lived together from 1987 until 1998.

Palin Fires Up Feminists

In the latest news on that fiery conservative feminist Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Fox News reports she has been endorsed by an unlikely source: the Los Angeles chapter president of the National Organization for Women (NOW).

Shelly Mandell, president of the LA chapter of NOW endorsed Sarah Palin at a rally yesterday.

Also, Palin exposed the hypocrisy of former Clinton administration official Madeline Albright when Palin quoted Albright from a "Quote of the Day" printed on a Starbucks cup:

"There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women"

The actual quote says

there is a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other

but I don't know whether the paraphrase belongs to Starbucks or Palin; either way, the sentiment is the same, and not the least bit taken out of context.

However, predictably, Albright had to come out and disavow Palin's use of this statement:

Though I am flattered that Governor Palin has chosen to cite me as a source of wisdom, what I said had nothing to do with politics...this is yet another example of McCain and Palin distorting the truth...and all the more reason to remember that this campaign is not about gender, it is about which candidate has an agenda that will improve the lives of all Americans, including women.

Funny, it seems any time feminists talk about women, it's political. What's more, the statement Albright gave from which this sentence was taken seemed political in nature, talking about women in power, women in society, and women in government. Apparently this statement has nothing to do with politics anymore.

Funny, there seemed to be a lot to do about gender when Hillary Clinton was running for president; how that a conservative woman is in the race for vice president...well, it' not about gender anymore.

Isn't it hilarious how feminists are all about women...until the woman is a conservative? Isn't it a hoot how feminists are all about women...until the woman wants to make a traditional choice like being a homemaker and committed mother?

What a bunch of transparent hypocrites!

At least Shelly Mandell isn't one of them. She apparently knows a woman who is a positive force for women and all Americans when she sees one. And isn't afraid to say so.

Obama Hypocritical on Truth Squad

This John McCain video examines Barack Obama's "Truth Squad" that started--then quickly stopped in the face of strong criticism--to legally pursue any political statement they disagreed with.

Obama has a serious problem with honesty and forthrightness...and in shying away from using the heavy hand of government to quell freedom.

Dykstra Talks About His Energy Plans for U.S. Senate

Folks, we need this kind of proactive vision for America's energy needs. We don't need more of the passive, deal-with-it-tomorrow approach we've seen from too many in congress. And we definitely don't need more pandering to environmental extremists.

South Dakota needs to send Joel Dykstra to Washington to work with Senator John Thune--and not against him as Senator Tim Johnson often does--to secure America's energy needs.

Senate Candidate: Homeschoolers, Pro-Lifers, Gun Owners Threaten American Values

I haven't been following closely the Virginia senate race between Democrat Mark Warner and Republican Jim Gilmore (to replace the retiring Senator John Warner).

But I came across this clip this morning and found it startling. I found it startling not for what was said--because I hear Democrats saying things like this every day, just not ones running for office--but because someone was actually able to record it. Democrats--at least ones running for public office--are usually more circumspect about their true feelings like this.

In this clip, you'll hear Democrat Senate candidate Mark Warner tell a group

you're going to see a coalition that has just about completely taken over the Republican Party in this state and if they have their way, it's going to take over state government. It's made up of the Christian Coalition, it's made up of the right to lifers, it's made up of the NRA, it's made up of the homeschoolers, it's made up of a whole coalition of people that have all sorts of different views that I think most of us in this room would find threatening to what it means to be an American.

So Christianity is threatening to what it means to be an American?

So living out one's faith as if it really mattered is threatening to what it means to be an American?

So protecting innocent human life is threatening to what it means to be an American?

So defending the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is threatening to what it means to be an American?

So parents teaching their children, to preserve their moral center and ensure a quality education, is threatening to what it means to be an American?

Well, I guess I've been wrong all these years about what it means to be an American

And apparently the people who founded America were also wrong about what it means to be an American.

Because the kind of things Mark Warner finds repugnant and threatening to what it means to be an American...these are the kind of values the Founders held to be so deeply important.

It's interesting to know that people like me and people like the Founders didn't understand that being an American is really about total sexual license, denial of the Creator who gave us our rights, and total subservience to the state.

I'm glad Mark Warner set us straight on that.

It is very, very rare indeed to see a Democrat with the courage to tell us what they really believe, and set us straight on "what it means to be an American."
